Experience the Joy of Choral Music

Boston Choral Society is a friendly community of music lovers who come together to share their passion for sacred and secular choral performances. Led by an excellent Musical Director and Accompanist, we rehearse most Thursday evenings (term-time), inviting all to 'give it a go' and join in the joy of making music.

Musical Director and Accompanist

Musical Director

Anthony Baldery became Musical Director in September 2024. He is an accomplished musician and teacher who joined the Music team with the Parish of Boston as Assistant Organist in October 2024.  Originally from Southampton, Anthony studied music at the University of Huddersfield, receiving organ tuition from Keith Jarvis and composition studies with Richard Steinitz.  After graduating in 1994, Anthony gained his PGCE qualification and started work as a teacher, serving as Director of Music at Marshland High School, Director of Academic Music at Ellesmere College, Shropshire and finally as Director of Music at Spalding Grammar School, where he worked for 11 years.  Anthony continues his study of organ repertoire, receiving tuition from Colin Walsh, Organist Emeritus of Lincoln Cathedral.  He enjoys a thriving business as a piano and vocal tutor and in addition, directs the Boston Community Choir and The Boston Choral Society, a choir whose founder was also organist at St Botolph’s.

Accompanist

Lisa Coe graduated with a BA (hons) degree from Birmingham conservatoire in 1989 and, after a PGCE from Bretton Hall, taught music at Darton High School, Barnsley. Next to the Himalayas in Pakistan as resident piano teacher at Murree Christian School for two years. Time there included a steam train ride up the Khyber pass and working, singing and dancing with people in the southern tribal villages. Whilst there she met Tony, her husband to be, and after an overland, rather uncomfortable  motorbike journey to England, it was downhill to the flats of Lincolnshire! Married in the Millennium and enjoying music teaching at Skegness Grammar School for a few years, she has since morphed into self-employment, mainly piano teaching and accompanying various groups, including Boston Choral Society and Beonna Community Choir, which has exercised her fingers and both sides of her brain!
